Experience

EXPERIENCE
I have 11+ years experience as a patent attorney including all phases of patent drafting and prosecution.  I have infringement litigation experience, and 2 years experience in civil law in Colorado, including tort, contract, malpractice, and non-patent intellectual property work.   My patent prosecution experience includes drafting and prosecuting domestic utility, design, and provisional patent applications, drafting and prosecuting PCT applications, responding to office actions regarding applications written by others, appeal, and petition practice before the USPTO, including petitions under the Accelerated Examination program.   I have successfully prosecuted national stage applications for Japanese and United Kingdom applications, and prosecuted, with foreign associated counsel, applications before the European, Indian, and Australian Patent Offices.  I have successfully drafted or prosecuted patents in the aviation, mechanical, astronautical, micro-electronic, electronic, computer, communications, automotive, software, business method, medical, aerospace, and consumer gadget arts.  My patent litigation experience, all successful, includes responses to threatening letters, drafting formal infringement opinions, pleadings, discovery practice, and motions, but not trial work to date.  I have experience with licensing but I do not get involved in marketing.
I also have 30 years experience as an astronautical engineer, which makes me a quick study on new technology.
Examples of my work can be found on the USPTO website http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/search-bool.html by searching on my name in the "attorney or agent"field.
